Small Jobs

I'm very happy to undertake small jobs such as replacing washers, filling holes, hanging pictures or fitting curtain poles or blinds. I offer a flexible appointment which aims to make even single such jobs economic. Lists of small jobs are particularly welcome.

Fencing

I'm happy to use either concrete or timber posts and gravel boards, as you prefer. There is some advantage to setting timber posts in plain gravel.

I have often sourced fencing materials from Ellis Timber and know that their fencing panels are heavyweight and durable. Thompson Saw Mills and Thaxters also supply fencing locally.

Shelving

Shelving is something of a speciality. I can make and fit shelves in wide range of different styles and budgets. Some of the shelving I've constructed are depicted below.

One type which I don't have a picture of is above-the-stairs shelving. In some homes, particularly terrace houses there is unused space in the stair well above head height but still within easy reach which makes for an ideal place for extra storage.

Door Hanging or Adjusting

Typical cost to hang a new internal door £50 per door.

Kitchen and Bathroom Fitting

Due to family and other commitments, I am unlikely, at the moment, to have sufficient time to carry out complete bathroom or kitchen renovations in the kind of time frame that most people would expect. I do hope to be able to offer this service again in the near future.

Flatpack Furniture Assembly

I'm very happy to assemble flatpack furniture for you.

Small Area Plastering or Filling

If replastering a whole room you would be best to employ a specialist plasterer but for small areas I have the tools and skill to produce a high quality result and will likely charge far less than a specialist plasterer.

Painting and Decorating

Despite painting many sash windows I don't seem to have pictures of any of them. I'd be pleased to provide a quote for your interior and exterior painting and decorating jobs.

Minor Plumbing Work

Replacing taps, unblocking sinks, plumbing in new appliances as well as replacing or moving toilets, sinks, baths and showers are jobs I have regularly undertaken.

Garden Landscaping and Patios

I am not a skilled horticulturist but I can make a fair job of hedge cutting and can do garden clearance and basic maintanance. I can lay patios and paths, construct decking, pergolas and trellis.

Stairs

I can also repair, remove or fit hand rails and construct balustrades. I have only built one complete set of stairs to date but the customer was pleased with the result and I know it was substantially cheaper than from specialist manufacturers.

Sheds and Outbuildings

Having designed and built my own home I'm familiar with some of the architectural consideration, both aesthetic and practical, involved in making useful and attractive buildings. So if you would like a unique garden office or other out-building I'd be please to work on a design with you. I'm also happy to erect off-the-shelf sheds and other structures.
